Relaxing in Haworth

So I haven’t really been up to much since the last post. Saturday was spent by myself in Leeds while my Dad and uncle went off to Skipton to watch the Tour de France. Cycling isn’t really my cup of tea and I decided that one day would be enough for me. However on sunday I was quite sick for unknown reasons so I spent most of the day in bed and as a result missed the Tour heading through the town I was staying in.

On friday though we did go to a cheese factory a 1.5 hour drive away in Hawes. My favourite part is quite easily the testing room they had, suffice to say I still can’t look at cheese the same way I use to. Now we are off back to London to catch the flight to Copenhagen! It’s gonna be fun fun fun!

PS. i almost forgot to mention but my dad got thrown up on the train to Skipton on saturday by a little kid. just thought I’d mention that

Haworth Main Street

So yesterday was the dry run – almost a wet one but thank you Tesco. Today the tour, minus Mark Cavandish, comes up the Haworth Cobbles. It’s quite good being related to the local vicar. Champagne and other treats

No too many people have this table of goodies right next to the race. Champagne, Pims, Strawberries – the full English treatment! Makes the four hour wait quite easy.

Many thanks to the wonderful shop owners of Haworth.

Soon enough the Riders came thru, first the break-away then the rest

  • Have Rail Pass to Skipton- Check. no, bother! left it behind
  • Camera – Check – no, left sitting on the Kitchen Table (thank goodness for iPhone)
  • Have baby throw up on train and on me – Check – got that right!

Skipton

Still the sky clears and the sun comes out and we join the 20,000 in Skipton along with the other million plus along the route. And this is with 3 hours to go!

Skipton Brass Band

So it’s time to go over to the Fan Park and check out Skipton’s finest.

The local Brass Band and actually they were very good. and then back to the main street for the Caravan (aka The sponsors vehicles) and then more and more police vehicles, both British and French, then finally the break away,by now just down to 2 with Jens Voigt (age 42) leading the way.

3 minutes later the Peleton arrives.
